Apprentices and Employers Recognised at Hull College Future Stars Apprenticeship Awards

Hull College’s first-ever Future Stars Apprenticeship Awards took place recently, as part of a series of events to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2023.

The awards ceremony recognised and celebrated the achievement, commitment and hard work shown by apprentices, along with employers who have gone above and beyond to champion apprenticeships as a career route. Almost 100 specially invited guests attended the event staged at Jubilee Central, which saw award winners and nominees joined by local employers and college staff.

The guest speaker at the ceremony was Richard Askam, who was the architect of one of the most successful marketing campaigns of all time. Demonstrating the power of personalisation, he devised the ‘Share a Coke’ campaign, where bottles were personalised with popular names, and went on to repeat the trick with personalised marketing campaigns for brands such as Marmite, Nutella, Lynx and Dove.

Reflecting on the success of the evening, Lynette Leith – Vice-Principal Curriculum at the college – said: “The whole event was one of celebration and provided the perfect opportunity for the college to recognise and acknowledge the hard work and success of our apprentices and valued employers. I would like to congratulate all of our winners, along with everyone who was nominated. We are all exceptionally proud of our apprentices – a sentiment which I’m sure is shared by their friends, families, and colleagues.

“Apprenticeships are all about giving people the opportunity to grow and develop, and that’s what it’s all about for us as a college. All the award winners are proof of just how valuable apprenticeships are to the community, businesses, and the wider economy across a wide range of sectors and industries in the Yorkshire and Humber region.”
