Charity Focus: Friends of Ganton School (FROGS)

Charity Focus • Summer 2023

FROGS is the charitable arm of Ganton School. We are a group of parents, carers, staff and friends of Ganton School and we are a registered charity. Together with the school, FROGS organise fundraising events and offer practical or emotional support to other families this can be through structured or support or something as simple coffee and cake!

At present we are raising funds for extra resources for class groups to bid for. We are also supporting the school to develop the school grounds as part of our Eco Schools provision and are actively seeking funds to help maintain our exciting new ‘Cycle Safari and Bug Hunt’ along with the primary school bike track.

If Food is your passion perhaps you would like to support ‘Chop and Change’ our dynamic community restaurant. One of our core aims is to challenge people’s perceptions of what young people with SLD are capable of. Just 6% of people with a severe learning difficulty are in employment. For a developed nation that is a tragic statistic. Chop and Change work with Cranswick Foods PLC, Double Tree Hilton Hull and the Deep to actively change this statistic. We are currently looking for support and funding to help us ensure the produce from our allotment makes it to our restaurant service. We would also love to purchase a mini bus to transport students to work placements supported by Chop and Change’s Chefs in school project.

Everything we do at FROGS and Chop and Change is about increasing opportunities for young people with disabilities. We passionately believe we can deliver positive change for our young people but are looking for supporters to help us drive achievement beyond that which can be achieved through traditional funding sources. We are particularly interested in discussions with anyone who holds a corporate responsibility budget. Any help and support at any level is much appreciated.
