Y&H Business is delighted to be showcasing Hull and East Yorkshire Mind as a local charity making a real difference to the Yorkshire and Humber region. An independent charity which is governed by local trustees is affiliated to the Mind network of over 130 organisations in England and Wales.They campaign and give support to people with mental health problems as well as their families, carers, and the community.
How do they help?
Hull and East Yorkshire Mind provide a range of services to support mental health problems.
One to one support – Hull and East Yorkshire Mind provide a range of one-to-one support services including counselling, workplace support, guided self-help, bereavement support and budgeting.
Group support – The Ways 2 Wellbeing programme is a six-week programme designed to support with improving mental health. There are also a range of peer support groups available.
Children and Young People – With 1 in 10 young people having a mental health diagnosis, the team provide a range of important services including one to one support, private therapy, and the Whole School Support programme specific to schools.
Training – 1 in 6 adults will experience signs and symptoms of mental illness in their life.
To support with recognising the signs, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind offer workplace mental health training as well as training for Mental Health Champions as part of a funded programme
Information and Guidance – While not being a crisis service, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind offer 24/7 access to information and advice to support those struggling with mental health symptoms. There’s even a live chat feature on their website to help direct you to the information you need.
Accommodation – Hull and East Yorkshire Mind offer a specialist housing service to support mental health issues and promote independent living.
Room Hire – For those looking for support with conducting support for mental health, the organisation offer room hire facilities in Hull and Bridlington.
Since the COVID pandemic, demand for their services has been unprecedented and fundraising opportunities limited. As a critical organisation to the local area, they would like to request support with fundraising activity in the local area. During the month of September, you can join their 600-mile September challenge. They are encouraging teams of 4 or more to walk, run or cycle 600 miles and raise funds in the process.
