Every day, the City of Hull is the home to dozens of heavy goods vehicles thundering down Hedon Road and the A63, keeping the country equipped with vital supplies. Harrison Solway are an industry leader and an award-winning logistics organisation.

As one of the region’s largest logistics providers, Harrison Solway specialises in the warehousing and distribution of food, grocery and FMCG products across the UK. With an impressive fleet of distribution vehicles, they are also an inaugural shareholding member of ‘Pallet-Track’ which is the UK’s fastest-growing pallet network, established back in 2004.

Starting out in June 2000 with ten vehicles, 25,000 square feet of warehousing and around 20 members of staff, Harrison Solway has grown significantly over the years and now operates nearly 40 vehicles, 50 trailers and 100,000 square feet of fully racked food grade warehousing, certified to BRC (British Retail Consortium), Organic produce and is also a full HMRC ‘Customs’ facility, formerly referred to as a Customs bonded warehouse.  The business also operates a full co-packing and fulfilment division taking their number of employees to over 80 across all departments.

On their journey to success, they firmly embedded an ethos of ‘get it right the first time’, cementing them as having unparalleled customer service levels in the industry, which is demonstrated in their extensive list of awards.

In November, they won the ‘Best Use of Technology Award’ at the Pallet-Track Gala & Awards Evening in Cirencester. They also walked away with the coveted ‘Platinum Award’ for the 7th consecutive year since its introduction which is for delivery service levels of 99% and above for the previous 12 months.

In previous years, they have won the ‘Regional Depot of the Year’ for Scotland and North England for seven consecutive years from 2015 to 2021, the award categories were changed for 2022 and replaced with various new categories, the ‘Best use of technology’ being one of them which Harrison Solway duly scooped.  To complete their long list of awards, in 2017 they were also presented with a very rare ‘Special Recognition Award’ due to the business maintaining a platinum service level whilst business owners Paul Harrison and Lee Solway were absent from the business for several months due to them both suffering serious illnesses, demonstrating the amazing team of dedicated and passionate people Harrison Solway employ.  Paul retired from the business in August 2020, leaving Lee and Kerry to head up the business which is going from strength to strength, with some exciting plans for future growth in the near future.

Harrison Solway constantly delivers excellence, the Pallet-Track operation handles in excess of 18,000 pallets per night from state-of-the-art hubs across the UK. The environment sits firmly in Harrison Solway’s mind and how they can contribute to protecting the environment as an organisation. All vehicles conform to the EU’s most demanding exhaust emissions levels with Euro 6 engines, installed with ‘AdBlue’ technology. Proactive maintenance of their vehicles is critical, along with managing their drivers and fuel consumption to achieve the best efficiencies possible.
