Hull Training and Adult Education has played an integral role in the city’s learning culture, and is key to Hull City Council’s drive to provide education and training opportunities for all.
As one of Hull’s few grade 2 Ofsted inspected providers we have continued to invest in people as well as their hopes and aspirations. Over 3,000 learners pass through our doors each year. Taking a really wide range of subjects as well as maths and English, many of our learners return to continue other courses for both work and pleasure.
Sharon Gamble Head of Service says: ” This September is going to be extra special. We will have a new prospectus and media platforms for getting in touch and finding out what’s on offer. There are lots of courses planned for adults who are interested in continuing their education, changing job roles, or perhaps learning some new skills. These courses cover a range of topics and can be taken in a variety of settings across the city. “Whether you are looking to advance your career, gain new skills or simply want to pursue a personal interest, there is a course for you.”
Councillor Linda Tock, portfolio holder for children’s services at the council and member of Hull Training and Adult Educations executive advisory says: “I am extremely proud of the rich history of adult education in the city and delighted with the new summer prospectus that covers not just courses for work but also learning and leisure. Having a city that is focused on lifelong learning is one of the core building blocks to promoting economic growth. Providing individuals with skills that are in demand is important, but it also absolutely enhances the overall quality of life by fostering personal growth, improving health and wellbeing, and promoting social cohesion.”

The new kid on the education block is the Skills Bootcamp offer.
Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee which helps everyone gain skills for life. Hull Training and Adult Education have secured funding from the Department of Education to run short courses that equip individuals with the skills they need in today’s fast changing world.
Skills Bootcamps are FREE if you are aged 19+ and you are either, employed, or self-employed, recently unemployed (in the past 12 months) or returning to work after a break. If you are an employer interested in our existing suite of qualifications or developing your own then get in touch.
Alex Codd, Assistant Director of Economic Development and Regeneration, with Hull City Council says: “The further development of the Skills Bootcamps in Hull is great news. It provides our employers and individuals with the ability to get ahead of all the new and emerging technologies heading our way. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for us to collaborate with our local businesses.”
